Executive Officer’s Foreword


The Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce are passionate about the growth and success of local commerce and actively work to build economic strength, innovation and diversity within the region. With over 380 members, the Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce aim to advocate on behalf of the business community to be the voice that will support and encourage projects that provide tangible commercial and community outcomes for Port Hedland, South Hedland and Wedgefield.

The WEB Business Hub continues to go from strength to strength offering an inclusive, accessible & welcoming space for the local business community and wider Pilbara region. The service-based programs on offer at the WEB Business Hub focus on topics such as digital literacy, web design, web coding, business management and financial management to enable businesses in the East Pilbara region to develop and enhance their long-term sustainability.

Reflecting on the year 2020, it most certainly has been a tumultuous year however the Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce would like to commend the spirit and resilience of the business owners and community of Port Hedland. We have observed many businesses overcome unprecedented challenges with stride. Due to the valued support of Horizon Power the Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce facilitated a 6 week Digital Literacy program which was designed to offer support to micro and small businesses who needed support in creating an online presence, this program was in direct response to Covid-19 and provided some valued assistance to business owners.

2020 also marked the opening of the Bungalow on Edgar, Port Hedland’ s newest retail outlet. This project has been made possible due to the valued partnership between the Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce and BHP. The Bungalow on Edgar has created a brand new retail ecosystem in Portside which has increased opportunities for the Port Hedland community to buy local as well as supporting micro & small home based business owners take the next step and move into their own commercial pop-up premises.

Throughout the year the Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce hosted the Bubbles and Bowties themed Business of the Year Awards which was a fantastic success, additionally we ran a number of Business After Hours events, Business Luncheons and even a Health Expo. We are also extremely proud to be awarded funding from State Government and the Pilbara Development Commission through the Regional Economic Development Grants Program, through this funding the WEB.

I would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our 9-member committee and staff, each member of the organisation have brought fantastic contributions, insight and experience to the Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce and have played an integral part in ensuring the many successes of the PHCCI this past year!
