Hedland Economic & Resources Forum

Premier Barnett recognises Pilbara's 'global significance' at inaugural Hedland Economic and Resources Forum

The Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce Inc hosted the inaugural Hedland Economic and Resources Forum in October 2011. The event saw over 200 local, intrastate and interstate delegates converge to hear from speakers discussing the Pilbara's economic climate and resource industry.

During his keynote speech, Premier of Western Australia Colin Barnett noted it was often said that WA was the powerhouse of the Australian economy, and that it was equally true that the Pilbara was the powerhouse of WA's economy.

In highlighting the Pilbara's global significance and the opportunities on offer, Mr Barnett stressed to delegates that now was the time to develop the necessary infrastructure to profit from WA's natural resources, and said Port Hedland.
